Eataly

Now, I know that I promised this post a few weeks back - I'm sorry it's taken me so very long to post!

About a month ago, when my mother was visiting for the weekend we popped into this lovely market in Chelsea: Eataly. If you live in the area or are travelling to NYC I highly recommend checking it out. It's huge, crowded, amazing, and totally worth it - that is, if you have the time and patience to navigate the maze of people.

I've been to Eataly a few times, but never to sit for dinner (only because of timing issues though) I'm looking forward to going back soon for a proper dinner! There's so many different things to choose from - many of which are either organic, or locally sourced. Beautiful wine and sparkling too!

PS. The gelato is incredible.

New York in January

My mom came to visit me last weekend. We had a glorious time watching movies, shoe shopping and wandering around the city. [Side note, Quartet was a delightful, sweet movie - I so recommend!]  The temperature on Sunday was unseasonably warm (only to turn ridiculously cold on Monday) so a stroll through Central Park and down to Chelsea was quite enjoyable. It was nice to get my camera outside of my house for a while and see some outdoors in the natural light. Enjoy!

My Backyard

I am often reminded by how lucky we are to live so close to one of the most beautiful cities in the world. Having New York City in my backyard is awfully convenient. Convenient on a daily basis for my 30 minute commute into Manhattan for work (or an hour and half depending on traffic), but also convenient for those times when we actually enjoy the museums, theater, and all the beauty. I often take it for granted that Manhattan is my backyard, but when I remember to bring my camera - I am continually delighted.

Well, I confess - technically this isn't taken from the NYC side of the river - this is the NJ side . . . but a beautiful spot nonetheless in Palisades Park.

Instagrams from my Strange Week with Sandy

I must first say how extremely lucky we have been during and after 'Superstorm Sandy.' Living on the outskirts of NYC during the aftermath of the hurricane is something to remember. We were very lucky to only lose power for 36 hours, while thousands still go without heat, light, or water. Being that my commute (three hours to go 5 miles on Thursday!) was the worst of it for me, I really can't complain!

NYC is a different place now, as are the outer boroughs, NJ, Long Island, and parts of CT. There certainly is so much more to say, but much of it has already been said before. My thoughts go out to everyone dealing with the aftermath. I haven't seen any of the places that were hit the worst, but from what photos and stories I've heard - it's like the zombie apocalypse. Wow! Just a few trees down in our neighborhood . . .

Here are a few instagrams that I took this week. Some prettier than others! Stay warm and safe everyone -

The GWB on my commute this morning (don't worry, I wasn't driving). Blue skies are back!

The office dogs are starting to feel pretty cooped up since the park across the street is still closed!!

Gas lines in NJ. They stretch for blocks and blocks. One side for people with cans, one side for cars. Insane.

Saturday Adventures

Last saturday we spent the day in the city - part fun (for me), part work (for Zack) and big part photo taking. We delivered tea cups to a tea shop (yup) in Greenwich village (a favor for one of his colleagues), had amazing fish and chips from A Salt and Battery, and ventured to Queens to fix a client's home. I rode in the passenger seat and took a bajillion photos. It was a perfectly gorgeous day - and so much fun! Hope you enjoy . . .
